We just got back from a whirlwind weekend trip to Kauai with my in-laws. SoldierMan had never been to Kauai, and I went once on another fast trip with my family years and years ago. But, they go every year, and this year invited us to join them. They were great hosts who made sure we left with tired feet and a full camera.
To be perfectly honest, you can’t “do” any island in 4 days. However, that’s all we had, so that’s what we did. And while we didn’t do everything, we did a whole lot! So I’m going to share the highlights with you. Today we’re talking about the Kauai Coffee Company.
It is what it sounds like: the showcase of the Kauai Coffee Company’s production, complete with tasting room and self-guided walking tour. Also a cute little gift shop.
‘Tis the season, so we had to get a picture with the coffee scarecrow dude. And by “we,” I obviously mean the child, who was not at all a fan of the weird guy next to her.
The walking tour is really interesting, and of course, free. You get a mini-view of their operation with lots of interesting tidbits. It was completely uncovered, so hats on the little ones are necessary. And, depending on the time of day, I would recommend some water, particularly if you gassed up at the tasting station beforehand, like we did.
The tasting station was too crowded to get a decent picture. There were probably a couple dozen different varieties you could taste. I wound up purchasing their Vanilla Macadamia Nut. It’s mighty fine.
