Our Gender Reveal Party

The Gender Reveal Party happened on Sunday, and it went pretty much exactly how I had envisioned it would. I love it when a plan comes together! Now, of course, if you follow me on Twitter, I did post the reveal, but somehow forgot to on the blog facebook page. I hope no one was let down.

(Somehow I doubt it.)

So this may not be the big “reveal” post for you, but if it is, here we go! :)

I ordered cupcakes from a local cupcake truck and they were DEElicious! I haven’t had a good fudgey chocolate cake in far too long! Of course, they were filled with the reveal color – either blue or pink!

For the beverages, I made cherry limeade (I swear it was a pretty pink in real life!) and, basically, pineapple limeade with blue food coloring. I think I liked the pineapple one best, actually.

The “Cravings Station”: Ding Dongs, French Fries, and Chicken Nuggets (because that’s the only form of chicken I still really enjoy.) I would have gotten pizza, but I was tired of spending money (true confessions) and didn’t want to run an errand on the day-of. Also, strawberry shakes deserve an honorable mention, but that seemed a little too complicated for a group setting.

I made all the chalkboard-like printables in Photoshop. I basically hodge-podged together some ideas from various blog tutorials. So I don’t have anything downloadable for you. One day I’ll learn how to do that.

Of course, you can’t have a gender reveal party without the customary blue or pink attire. Even though we already knew the big secret, we still dressed up in both. (How often do you have a ready-made occasion for pink pants???)

The boys even got into the spirit:

(They’re still wearing them. They love swag.)

I also had a chalkboard set up, half so the guests could all write down their votes “officially,” but also because I wanted to make sure all our long-distance family and friends (and all y’all fine BBs!!) could be here in spirit! I’m pretty sure I got everyone, mega-apologies if I missed you! I really tried to stay on top of it!

By the way, thanks to all of you who “participated” in the chalkboard vote. I don’t have to tell you how much this community has blessed my life the last nearly 5 (wow!) years. Having y’all represented in absentia made the day extra-special!

After about an hour of socializing and swapping stories and generally seeing how long we could drag this out ;) we finally gathered ‘round the kitchen island and let everyone bite into a cupcake!

What was the result?????

And I’ve rewatched the ultrasound video several times, we are definitely getting a girl! :)

We are both very excited! I’m having the time of my life filling up our registries with flowers, ruffles, and zebra print :) Halfway!!

  1. YAY! I was right:) Girls are so much fun! And I love that both pups are licking their noses in the photo!

  2. It was tough, but I patiently read through the entire post and didn't just scroll to the bottom to see that y'all are having a sweet little girl!!!! I am so excited or y'all!!! You all are going to be the sweetest parents!

  3. I did see on facebook, BUT I just have to comment here and say that I loved what you did for your party. So cute! It makes me wish we'd done one for Caroline. Oh, well. Enjoy all the fun frills that come with a baby girl!! (EEEEEE!!!!) :)

P.S. BUTT RUFFLES ARE THE CUTEST. I mean. #icant

  4. How fun! Little girls have the best clothes for sure. :)

  7. Aw how exciting!!! All of the things you did for the party were great ideas! I love that you included your dogs with their pink and blue attire as well. Super cute idea. Congrats on the girl! I would be excited to be buying tons of zebra print items as well!

I was nice and didn't turn on word verifications. Please reciprocate by having your reply-to email set and not posting anonymously.
