A Little Bit of Free Time (and a giveaway!!)

Sort of.

I have a confession to make. I don’t wear a lot of makeup.

That’s not vanity talking, it’s laziness. I enjoy wearing makeup, but generally I have to be in the mood to really go to town and put it on all the way. If we’re just running to the store, no makeup. If I’m going to spend yet another day running around the city, probably just eyeliner and mascara.

Also, when I DO wear makeup, unless we go to bed early to watch TV or something, I’m usually too tired (or lazy) to take my makeup off before bed. I know, I know, it’s so “bad for you” and “doesn’t take that long,” but when you’re already tired, it’s just too much.

A while back, I was contacted to try some new products by the Simple company – makeup remover cloths, eye makeup remover pads, and facial moisturizer.

And you know, I really love them. Only having to take 30 seconds at night to get fresh-faced before bed is awesome. Plus, the pads don’t irritate my eyes. Ever since the Lasik a few years ago, my eyes have been a bit sensitive. These are really gentle.

When SoldierMan was deployed, even when I worked until 10:00 at night, I was still able to come home, take a nice relaxing bath before bed, and then read myself to sleep. Since he’s come home, I’ve taken on more responsibilities, and of course it’s a little rude to spend an hour a night in the tub when you aren’t the only human in the house. So giving myself a full mani-pedi and a facial every week…isn’t really doable anymore.

But I feel like I get a little bit of it back when I can clean myself up after a day of running around the desert and then washing dishes before bed.

Bonus: Simple is sold through the Commissary, and they have provided me with a $25 gift card to give away to one of YOU lovely readers, so that you can try the wonderful Simple products for yourselves!

To enter, simply leave me a comment and let me know your favorite way to pamper yourself! Winner will be chosen at random next Wednesday, the 26th.

  1. I saw these face wipes on Amazon the other day and thought about trying them. I use the Neutrogena face wipes right now, but I may have to switch.

  4. It sounds weird but whenever I get to dye my hair it's so nice. Almost an hour with no kids or cats to bother me. And I look better after!

  5. My favorite way to pamper myself is to take obnoxiously long showers. As if anyone else in the house needs hot water!

  6. I like to sneak in some "Me" time by going to a spa for a mani/pedi!

  7. I get a pedicure and my nails every two weeks like clockwork, and I'm not ashamed to admit it. It's really the only thing I *do* for myself, regardless of if he's home or not.

I'd soak in the tub for an hour a night even if he WAS home if we had a tub worth soaking in. My one request when we move is that I get a NICE tub. it's basically as big of a must as electricity and running water. And two sinks in the master bath, because I can't share a sink with that man, haha.

  8. I have a membership to Massage Envy so I can have a much-needed massage once a month. If I don't use it, I can roll it over to the next month for an even better two hour massage!

  9. If I were truly pampering myself, I'd probably enjoy a soak in a bathtub with bubble bath... but my bathroom no longer has a tub. It's very sad. :)

  10. I'm a sucker for a glass of wine & giving myself a gel manicure while my guy embraces his 13 year old boy in him & plays video games. Time for him, time for me!
