For those of you who don't know, April is the Month of the Military Child.

All the reminders started flashing around facebook this week, and I tried to think of something I could do personally to support military children. There are always events and things to volunteer at or spend money on, but I didn't really feel led that way.

Also, I spend a lot more time in general with military children now, so it seemed like I'd already checked off the "give up some of my time" box.

Then I thought of my prayer journal that I told you about. Part of that exercise is learning how to pray more globally, not just for myself or my family and friends, but for God to move in big ways among groups of people I may not know.

Bingo! Military children! So I've committed to pray every day this month for military children. Somehow different each day - for their health, for their education, for their friendships, for the children of Wounded Warriors, for children who have to grow up with a Gold Star instead of a Mom or a Dad.

I'm not telling you this to pat myself on the back. I'm hoping that by sharing this it will encourage you to also take at least one day this month and pray for all the military children around the world. They are an amazing group, thriving in a life they didn't chose for themselves. And I have great confidence in praying for them. Jesus loves the little children, all the children of the world, and I know He will honor prayers made on their behalf.
When Jesus saw it, He was indignant and said to them, "Let the little children come to Me. Don't stop them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these." ~ Mark 10:14
And whoever welcomes one child like this in My name welcomes Me. But whoever causes the downfall of one of these little ones who believe in Me-it would be better for him if a heavy millstone were hung around his neck and he were drowned in the depths of the sea! ~ Matthew 18:5-6
