Surprise Packages Are the Best!

Yesterday was NOT a great day. Had a farewell dinner for a friend who is PCSing and, after dealing with car stuff in the morning, fought a migraine all afternoon. (First migraine of the year in the books. :p) So it was a middlin’ day all day, to say the least.

But when I got home from dinner, I had the funnest surprise waiting for me in the mail!

Jes had asked for my address a while back because she said she wanted to send me “a little something.” I thought a late Christmas card. Instead I got a package FULL of Disney-themed Japanese goodies – candy, pedicure stuff, more candy…lots of candy :) It was so stinkin’ exciting! (In case you can’t tell :)) She also included a sweet note letting me know she was thinking of me and SoldierMan during our first deployment.

Once the high of the surprise wore off, I couldn’t help feeling totally overwhelmed. The amount of support we’ve received during this deployment (two months down today, btw – WHOO-HOO!) has been so humbling. And here was a sweet friend, a person I literally only know through and because of blogging, who took the time to pull some stuff together, write a letter and send me a package, just to make sure I felt loved on.

Unworthy. That’s how I feel. Grateful and unworthy.

Thank you so much, Jes, for brightening my day/week/month/deployment! This is going in the scrapbook :) (And be sure and check out her blog and all her adventures in Japan!)

Now, for the moment you’ve all been waiting for, the Grand-Prize winner of the

  1. I love the package you got! :)

  2. What a sweet package!

    And congrats, Stephanie on winning!

  3. I'm so glad it arrived on the perfect day! I probably should have attached notes to each thing letting you know what it is but to be honest, most of it I've never tried! Looking at this photo, the purple package the bottom right of the box with the picture of grapes on it, that one is my all time favorite Japanese candy! Pop rocks wrapped in cotton candy, it doesn't get much better (in the form of sugar) than that! Oh, and the blue bag with the brown squares on it...those things are like oroes in wafer form, yum!

    So glad you loved it!
