It’s been a long, long time since I picked up my camera and shot anything other than my puppies.
I guess you people know that as well as anyone :)
So I was very excited to be able to help a friend of mine in our squadron get some maternity shots in before her little man made his grand entrance (next week!!!)
And I have to say, for being terribly out of practice, I’m pretty pleased with how these turned out.
It helps when your subject is so photogenic :)
FTR, the child’s name is not Pythagoras. It’s an inside joke we have.
That lovely background is actually a mutual friend’s living room accent wall. There were four of us - not in diapers - altogether, including the mommy to be, all millies. We had some great helpers, too:
And since my fellow shooter was there with her little fella, we had a mini-photo shoot before we left:
I had such a great time. I haven’t worked behind the camera in so long. Chasing puppies doesn’t really count. And I got to use my new fancy-schmancy studio equipment! (I wish I had taken a picture)
I had been in a funk the last few days. Well, I was feeling funk-ish, but I didn’t realize it until someone on twitter asked me if everything was okay, that I sounded “down.” Which, by the way, I do appreciate. It was thoughtful. I immediately thought, “Gee, no, just fine, thanks.” Of course, in retrospect, I realized that yeah, I had been a bit droopy for various reasons. And I guess it had seeped onto twitter.
Droop kills my motivation. You can tell my mood by my house.
A day of photographing beautiful ladies and gorgeous babies was just what I needed. I don’t see my professional self resurfacing at this point in time, but I really need to do this more often.
I have difficulty finding the words to describe how shooting makes me feel. I guess it’s what other people mean when they get a high after exercise (which I still believe is pure fiction). I’m exhausted and amped-up and walking on air all at the same time.
Alive. That’s the word I’m looking for.
Alive
Can we do it again tomorrow?
Gosh - You and your friends.. and their babies.. are just so gorgeous. I wish I had a group of friends like that! Oh wait..
