Happy V-Day!

Since SoldierMan is on a long field trip, we had our Valentine’s Day early. We relaxed most of the day, I finally got my red hair back, we walked the dogs, went out to a nice dinner, and then came home and had a nice low-key evening.

I know, I look awkward. I’m trying to ignore it.

UPDATE: Silly me, I forgot to post our V-Day gifts to each other:

Him to me:

Sorely-needed sewing tools – cutting mat, flat ruler and rotary cutter. He knows and loves me and got me the cheesy zebra-print one. Because he’s awesome like that.

Me to him:

Mr and Mrs mugs from The Patriotic Peacock. I had to white-out our names. There aren’t really smudges.

I feel like this one needs a little explaining. That is kind of a cutesy, girly gift for a husband. But – the reason I got them is because poor SoldierMan likes his weekend coffee out of nice big mugs…and since we don’t have any nice big mugs, he uses travel mugs, even though we’re just sitting on the couch. So, when I saw Kathlyn list these in her shop, they jumped out to me as the perfect Saturday morning coffee mugs. And, FTR, he does like them.

She even personalized them for us, with our names (as you can see) and our anniversary in the bottom:

You MUST hop over and check out the Patriotic Peacock shop! She has SO many cute things!

So far the Army has had us on an every-other-year schedule with regard to V-day, which really isn’t bad. It’s one of those days that I do like celebrating, but the actual date isn’t all that important to me.

And I do think it’s good to celebrate. I mean, why not take one day out of the year to show some extra love to your love?

So, to all my fellow involuntarily-“single” millies today, I send out a very special Happy Valentine’s Day to you. Treat yourself extra special today!

“But God demonstrated His own love for us in this way,
that while we were still sinners, the Messiah died for us!”
~ Romans 5:8

I love you and miss you, SoldierMan. Can’t wait till you come home.

  1. I think these field exercises are planned on VDay by some higher up who despises the holiday. My husband was supposed to be in the field overnight tonight (only night this month), but over the weekend they changed it to make sure husbands were home for VDay. Someone at home got mad and didn't want to be alone again on Vday!

    Happy Valentine's Day to you!

  2. I think it's a sweet picture of the 2 of you (and *love* your jewelry)! Glad you were able to celebrate in style together. Happy Heart Day!

  3. Love the picture of the two of you, so cute! Happy Valentines Day :)

  4. I know I commented on Facebook, but I love the photo of you two A LOT. I don't think you look awkward!

    Happy Valentines Day!

  5. I think that's a great photo of you guys! You don't look as awkward as you think. =) And I am *totally* jealous of your zebra rotary cutter!!! I'm gonna have to find me one of those!

Are you still doing the V-Day FRG thing?

  6. I love the mugs!!! :) Happy Valentine's Day!

  7. Oh, the Army and their scheduling preferences for holidays and special occasions! We're on an every other year schedule with our anniversary! Here's to hoping they stay on schedule and #3 isn't spent separated!!!
