12 in 12: February

First of all, I just want to preface this by saying, SoldierMan was gone most of the month. Which only matters because it was super distracting and while I was focused on my day-to-day I totally lost sight of the big picture regarding my 12 in 12. So this was a very unimpressive month, goal-wise. However, for the sake of accountability, I’m going to give you the run-down anyway.

1. MIND | Read at least one book a month, new or old, fiction or non-fiction. Memorize one Bible verse a week.

Reread the Hunger Games again. I am going to do a review post on them soon, just so I can talk with you guys about them. I’ve got stuff to talk about.

Currently reading: God’s' Wisdom in Proverbs, by Dan Phillips. Yes, still. I’m about halfway through. There’s much to give pause for thought. But I can go ahead right now and recommend it to every one of you.

*deep breath*
Total fail. I am reminded of why I took physics and not anatomy in school. Other than the gross factor. I am horrible with memorization. Horrible.

2. BODY | Work out 3x a week, minimum. Meal replacement shakes 1-2 times a day.
So, the work out thing. Again, totally fell off the wagon, mostly because SoldierMan was gone. He’s very motivating to me. That, and finding out he got a good amount of pizza while he was away. So the pressure of competition was off. The MRSs were fairly well kept up. But in general I think I ate better all around. So I count that as a positive

3. SOUL | Stick to a Bible reading plan.
Find a church.
Do a daily Bible study.
Pick a verse for the year.

Bible reading plan has been mostly consistent. Haven’t been so good about keeping up with the corresponding blog, unless something really big strikes me. But I am making progress.
Church search has been put on hold while SoldierMan was gone. I don’t feel comfortable trying out churches without him. It will be different when we have a church home, of course.
Verse for the year:
Joshua 1:9 "Haven't I told you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid, for Yahweh your God is with you wherever you go."

4. PLATFORM | Write at least 2 articles a month for the Bigs
Check, check and triple-check. It was a good month.

Amend to add: grow follower count on twitter and facebook.

Which is my sly way of asking you to follow. :)

5. BLOG | Post 3-5 times a week.
Host one giveaway a month.
Check on the giveaway. I think I averaged 3 posts a week this month. Again, me muse was gone,

6. LOVE | Follow "Power of a Praying Wife" every month for one year.
Plan more creative date nights.
Geez. I keep totally forgetting about this one. Oops.

7. TIME MANAGEMENT | Plot out to-do lists for the week every Monday. "Stop feeling guilty when people you don't know ask you to do something you can't do."
Still bad with the list-making. But overall, I think I’m in a good place. And I’m getting better at not being taken advantage of saying no when necessary.

8. STEWARDSHIP | Record spending and stick to the budget. Work the couponing like I'm being paid (because I am). Tithe consistently. Seek out charitable opportunities. Maximize my Swagbucks efforts (might conflict with TIME MANAGEMENT.)
I was really good about tracking the spending, getting back in the habit of being the one to pay the bills. And I really rocked the SB this month. Should be getting some fabric and new books headed my way shortly.

9. CREATION | Get current on scrapbooking by the end of the year. Learn how to use new sewing machine for more than pot holders. Make something I want to wear. Plan and actually execute Christmas baskets this year. Take one picture every day, preferably with my camera.
Made three totes on the sewing machine for cancer kids (I’m not saying that to brag, but that was my motivation). I’ll finish the 2009 scrapbook today (assuming Walmart FINALLY prints my pictures!) AND I was able to take some fun “real” photos doing a friend’s maternity pictures.

10. KINDNESS | "Practice random acts of kindness and senseless acts of beauty."
Hope so? I took said friend dinner in the hospital after she gave birth.

11. KEEP IN TOUCH | Regularly update email, photos, Facebook, & twitter.

12. WRITING | Edit NaNoWriMo2010 project. Complete NaNoWriMo2011 first draft/Continue research. Participate in NaNoWriMo2012
I bought Scrivener, a software program for “long-form” writers (e.g. those of us working on books). I highly, highly recommend. Not much new writing has gone on, but LOTS of organization and development. I need to get all my research squared-away still, but the project definitely looks better than it did a month ago.

So, there you have it. A very un-spectacular February in some areas, satisfying in others. That’s life, though, I guess. Alls I can do is shake the dust off my feet and do better next month, right?

How have you done with your goals for 2012 so far?
