I Love 'Em Anyway

Cassandra took a breath. "But people still have to die in war. Men and women, eighteen-year-old kids we send over there who never come back. Do you think He's happy about that?" She had a hard time keeping the taunt out of her voice.

Jet looked down. "No, of course not. But I also know what God thinks about sacrifice. He looked down and saw this ugly world, with all it's brutality and it's horror and it's cruelty, He saw how awful men can be to each other. He saw the way we enslave each other and use each other and steal and kill, and He looked down and said, 'I love 'em anyway,' and sent His own Son to die for us so that we wouldn't have to be caught up in that ugly sin forever, so that even before we go to Heaven, while we're here on earth, we can be free from the evil in this world.
"I know that God understands that sometimes, people have to die so that other people can live. And I know that He understands what the families who lose their loved ones are going through, because He had to watch His own Son be tortured to death, even thought He - Jesus - hadn't done anything wrong. He only died because He loves us, because He wanted us to be free."

"For God did not send His Son into the world that He might condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through Him." ~ John 3:17
