Today is the Beginning

So, I am kind of excited. Today, Jessica and I began a new phase in life: the (hopefully) more organized side.

After seeing all the Erin Condon fanaticism around the blogosphere, I decided to check it out. And I was inspired. Not to spend $50+ on a planner (even though they are very cute and personalized and everything) but I wanted to take that concept and make up one that fits our lives and our goals.

Jessica and I were talking and decided we both wanted to take more control of our lives. So, off to Target we went! And it worked out pretty well. Thankfully, we have hit the mondo school supply season, so there were a good amount of cute options (we decided to go for a three-ring binder style rather than spiral-bound). And I made it out with supplies, Starbucks and 2 dresses for around $70. Very exciting.

So at the moment I'm working on putting everything together that I need. For example, I already have a calendar for meal planning, so I don't need a section for that. But I do need daily, weekly and monthly chore lists. So, I'm scouring teh interwebz looking for (free) templates and ideas. Cause part of this is being frugal. I'm not going to pay for a printable template. :p

Do you have a "life planner"? What's in yours? Where do you get your supplies?

  1. I need to be more organized! I am about to write out a schedule that keeps me sane during the week and lets me get everything done that needs to be done.

  2. I actually have a "household notebook"...but it doesn't get used very often, if ever. And actually Melissa made it for me because she is WAY more organized than I am. Truth be told, it'd be a good idea for me to use it - even if just for meal planning because there IS a section for that - but I just never feel the need to bust it out. I think the last time I used it was during our PCS and stay in the hotel here. It DID come in super handy during our PCS.

  3. Recently I created a chore chart of weekly and monthly chores to check off. It's been nice to keep track of myself. We also do meal planning, in a sense. We sit down and choose 5-7 dinners for the week before we go grocery shopping so we don't waste our money.

  4. I need to get on this train with you. I am the most disorganized person in the universe I do believe. I need to post those steps up in every single room of my house! Haha

  5. I am a super organized-neat-freak kind of person and I love having a planner. I wouldn't remember half of what I am supposed to be doing if it weren't for my planner! I attempt to plan meals/track budgets/plan chores/etc - it doesn't always work, but having a written plan definitely helps keep me going toward my goal! Good luck finding templates/getting organized!!!

  6. I was a printing fool this afternoon. I'm pretty satisfied with what I have printed out. We'll see about how I have it all organized. I'm sure I'll change it up quite a bit. I can't wait to see yours and.. I'm sure.. get some more great ideas!

  7. I just have a regular calendar planner that I got from Target. I probably need to upgrade to something bigger though because I always run out of room.
