Thursday Randomness

I figure no one will be on over the weekend so I can go ahead and do my random post for the week today. :)

Speaking of the weekend, to get in the spirit I did my toes last night:

I was inspired by Lindsay at Tails to Tell. I only wish I had thought of it earlier. This was more of a dress-rehearsal job, but as she puts out, no one will be getting very close to your toes. :) I made an impromptu trip to Walmart and bought the cheapest blue nail polish I could find (I always feel like I have to skimp on impulse purchases). I see a trip to Ulta for some really pretty pearlescent blue OPI in my near future. Do you have a blue OPI you love??

Speaking of the weekend, what are your big plans? We're going to a cookout with some friends Saturday night. And we live close enough to post that we aren't planning on fighting the crowds to go to the park for fireworks, we're just going to camp in our backyard with the pups. Sadly, there's a ban on fireworks for citizens...and since we live next door to a cop, I think we'll have to stick by it this year, contrary to tradition.

Surprisingly, I don't have any new puppy pics to share with you today. I've totally slacked off. I am looking forward to taking lots of pics at the cookout, however. Hopefully it will cool down a *little* by then. Today was only something like 102, which was like a cold front.

One of the more exciting things to happen this week was, I got a copy of a friend's manuscript. This person and I were in college together...although I think he was in the graduate program...anyway, we had many of the same classes because it's a small program and you basically had all your classes with the same group of people. Which was fantastic. Anyway (and I'm not just saying this, SoldierMan can attest to my sincerity) this person was one of my favorites to read, so when he contacted me asking for feedback, I was thrilled. Not only because I knew it would be a great read (and it is). But also because it was a sort of vicarious wish fulfillment. Seeing someone else, a contemporary and fellow student, get to this point in the process - having a manuscript completed and ready for outside editing - gave me a jolt of motivation to hurry and get to that point myself. So it was a total DoubleMint Gum experience - double the fun. Is. I should say is. I'm still working on it, of course.

Anyway, today is going to be a busy day. Helping a friend move this morning, working the commissary grand opening this afternoon/evening for the FRG. So I better get to it and get it overwith so I can get on to our nice long holiday weekend.

Happy 4th!!

  3. My favorite blue OPI color is Russian Navy but it is a really dark blue.

I am not doing anything big this weekend. The roomies & I are grilling and watching fireworks.

How exciting that you get to read your friend's manuscript!
