Osama Bin Laden is dead
Intelligence has told us that, for all practical purposes, OBL hasn't been issuing direct orders for a while now, but that's not what's important here. This is a huge victory for America. Closure for victims and their families. And validates to the naysayers and chicken hawks our military's mission overseas for the last 10 years.
What if we had ended the War on Terror and "brought them home" 7 years ago, 5 years ago, 1 year ago?
Tonight would not have happened. National Security is a long-term vision. There are a lot more people than OBL trying to kill us from A-stan. And there are plenty of others issuing orders to attack us aside from OBL.
This is not over. It's not over until they issue unconditional surrender. Because until that happens, they will never stop trying to destroy us.
Never forget that.
And in the meantime, have a party.
"For government is God's servant to you for good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, because it does not carry the sword for no reason. For government is God's servant, an avenger that brings wrath on the one who does wrong." ~ Romans 13:4

I don't think I will be partying to much.
ReplyDeleteMy husband leaves for A-Stan really soon. What does this mean for the war over there? Retaliation comes to mind. They are going to be MAD.
I don't know but this might be bad, in my opinion.
It is good that we killed him but I am just curious as to know what it is going to cause over seas.
ReplyDeleteMy first comment sounded bad.
I would really like to shout "NOW WHAT?!" To all the anti-war folks out there. Because - you're right - if we had pulled our troops out even a year ago, this would never had happened and he'd still be on the run.
ReplyDeleteAmen sista!
ReplyDeleteI was hoping I would find a post from you about this! I was singing to myself a happy little cheer all last night. The war clearly isn't over, but this can only help the morale of all soldiers and all Americans (aside from the pompous jerks who think it is a conspiracy). Sure, of course there are heightened terror alerts now, but those happen multiple times a year and our soldiers are pretty darn good at dealing with it!
ReplyDeleteI know the battle isn't over, but thank God that man is dead!!
ReplyDeleteSo proud of the U.S military!!
Agree with all of this and just wanted to express how much the picture on the bottom moved me. I know that we are nowhere near done over there, but the patriotism I've seen this morning is so refreshing and makes me proud! I'm loving all of the footage of celebration!
ReplyDeleteTotally agree with you! That last picture gave me chills too.
ReplyDeleteProud of our troops, for sure. It was almost unreal when I first found out. You're right, there's still so much more to do, but what a day for America.
