Birthday Festivities

I had a fantastic birthday weekend, in spite of not feeling 100%.

Friday night, some of us got together to go and celebrate the end-of-October birthdays (2 on the 30th, 2 on Halloween) with an Awesome 80's costume party.

I was Marty McFly. Thanks, Walmart.

Some awesome fellow Army wives.

Saturday, my actual birthday, was pretty low key. I'm pretty low-key (especially when I'm sick), so it was great. :) SoldierMan and I played games during the day. And I'm sure you're all wanting to know what SoldierMan got me for my birthday, right???

Well, I think he'd be the first to say I'm not the easiest person to buy for - he'd be first, followed closely by my mother. :) Why? I never know what I want. Very frustrating for a man whose "giving" Love Language is Gift Giving. (Yeah, I know. How lucky am I?) But after getting a new laptop back in the summer "for my birthday" and him taking me on a shopping spree for a new fall wardrobe at the beginning of the month....really, what more could a girl ask for? (I know, I'm spoiled. He's just awesome like that.)

Saturday morning he came home with a gift basket from Bath and Body Works full of goodies in my favorite scent - Japanese Cherry Blossom. I probably should have taken a picture of it, it was such a cute package, but I was so excited I tore right into it. He even picked out all the products himself and had them wrap it there. I thought that was sweet. :)

That evening we went out to dinner and to the local froyo place, which for my birthday gave me a sweet coupon that got us our dessert for something like 70% off. Yes, I am not afraid to gloat about how little I paid for something. Savings make me happy.

After the night's outting

The rest of the day was filled with lots of Happy Birthday messages on facebook and on my phone, including this cute picture message from my sister.

The icing on the cake, though, was watching OU walk over Colorado. I guess it wasn't that big of a deal...Colorado hasn't beaten us in a long time. But after last week, it was nice to have a big win. On my birthday, too!

Monday evening, my birthday buddy (top picture, in the purple) and I went out for the evening. Went to dinner, got pedicures, did a little shopping. It was wonderful.

So there you have it, my full birthday weekend. I have some great friends and an amazing husband who has taken care of everything while I've been sick and out of commission and never complains. I am so very, very lucky. :)
