The BIG Announcement

This will be pretty anticlimactic. :)

First of all, the trip to El Paso/Ft. Bliss was successful. I love the area and we have a good idea for housing. (Basically, don't even try to live on-post. One milwife I spoke to out there said the the wait list for their qualified housing - don't ask me what it is, I didn't ask her husband's rank - was 2-3 years long. YEARS. Screw. That.) I found us a beautiful house off post and the sellers have already agreed to a great price. Everything fell into place in a matter of hours. It was a total God thing. We are so excited.

Now, onto business.

For those of you who don't know (which I'm betting is most of you) this is NaNoWriMo: National Novel Writing Month.

Every year, I begin November with every intention of participating.
Every year, I start late.
Every year, I don't finish.

This year, I am determined to be different. I am going to finish and I am going to meet the 50,000 words in 30 days requirement. (As you math whizzes just realized, that figures to 1667 words a day.) However, this is a huge commitment, because as all of you know, writing is a time-suck. And I only have so much time in the day to devote to writing.

That being the case, something has to give in order for me to meet this goal, or at least have a fighting chance of it. You marathon runners may be able to relate: you don't become able to run a marathon by running for a 5 hour block once a week. You have to run every day, hard and fast and seriously.

So I have to start marathon-writing to meet this goal.
And for me to do that, I'm going to have to
*deep breath*
stop blogging.
For a while.

This is really hard for me to write, because I love my little connection to you guys. But in order to keep my mental, emotional and creative energies channeled one way, I have to do this. This means putting off some posts I had really looked forward to sharing with you (aside from any pre-scheduled I still have out there). This also means taking a break from reading and commenting on your posts, because that also takes a lot of energy and time out of my day.

So, for the next 30 days (I'm starting my timer today, the 11th) I am going dark. I'd love it if you were all still here when I came back, because I will miss you, for sure. And if anything earth-shattering happens - like I am randomly chosen to star in Star Trek 2 - I'll be sure to post that. :) Other than that, I'll be incommunicado.

Thanks for understanding, and any prayers for creativity and productivity would be greatly appreciated. Love to you all, and I'll see you in December, manuscript-in-hand!

  20. I am so so so proud of you for doing the NaNoWriMo!!! I considered doing it last year but wimped out. And I swore I'd do it this year, but well, I can barely keep up with a couple of blog posts a weeks so I'm not going to attempt it. I wish I could do it right there along with you. Maybe next year. I wish you the very best of luck and prayers are going your way for a very productive and creative month! I cannot wait to hear about your results!!!!

And of course, I'll be waiting for you when you come back to the blogging world. We'll all miss you, but you are embarking on a wonderful thing!!!!!!! You go girl.
