On Commenting and Replying
Do you have your reply-to email set? Do you even know what I'm talking about?
Whenever you comment on my blog, the comment is sent to my inbox via email. I imagine it's the same for you as well. Did you know, if you want to reply to a specific comment, all you have to do is Reply to that email to speak directly with the commenter....
Unless, of course, they don't have their Reply-to email set. Sad face.
Which quite often happens to me. Not every day, but quite often I try to reply to a comment but the reply-to address is set to no-reply@blogger.com. Especially you new followers. I'd love to get the chance to get to know you better.
So here's the deal. How does one change their Reply-to address??? It's quite simple!
You go to your Dashboard (blogger homepage). Edit profile. Check the box that says "Show my email address." Save.
Ta-da!!! :) Now everyone has a quick and easy way of communicating. Isn't that awesome?
Happy face.

It's also come to my attention that some of you really have no idea what I'm talking about, because you aren't getting blog comments sent to your inbox. Never fear! That is also a simple thing to fix.
Go to Settings
Click on Comments
At the bottom of the page, there is a blank form for "Email Comment Notifications." Enter your preferred email there.
Save.
Some people create second email accounts just for blogger. I use my primary one. It's a personal preference thing.
And voila! Comments in your inbox.

I'm glad that you posted this! I hate when I want to reply to someone and I can't!
ReplyDeletei've got mine set!!!
ReplyDeleteIf I had a penny for everytime I typed out a response and went to click "send" only to see it was a no-reply. Sigh... and then I feel as though I'm ignoring people when I can't reply. Sigh again. If only more people were on board!
ReplyDeleteOh, it makes me have a sad face when I can't reply to some one. Thanks for posting this!
ReplyDeleteUpdated mine! =)
ReplyDeleteHaha I love when you talk about this :) I've had mine set up for a week or so now, but I never knew how to REPLY to other peoples comments, thanks for the tip! :)
ReplyDeleteI do have mine set up, but everything has been going into my spam folder! Ugh...
ReplyDeleteI thought I had mine set until you said something to me! And I am so glad you did because!! I even made sure my Mom's was set up because she comments on almost every single one of my posts and I don't like not being able to just click reply.
ReplyDeleteI love this J! The only other thing besides this is to take off flippin' word verification on comments! That drives me insane!!!
ReplyDeletethanks for the information. I didnt know that. Mine is now set Feel free to message me :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the information, I wondered if there was a way to do this, but didn't know for sure. So it's all set up now! :)
ReplyDeleteI thought my email address showed in my profile or when you try to comment in the blog itself. I wondered why I never got comments from anyone in my email box or the blog didn't notify me of comments. Thanks for letting us know how to change the settings.
ReplyDeleteYes...I have mine set that way and I love being able to email a blogger back after they have left me a comment.
ReplyDeleteOops! I'm so glad you posted this. I thought mine was set up...but it wasn't! That probably explains a lot. lol
ReplyDeleteI wish everybody did this!
ReplyDeleteHi! So, glad you posted this, it reminds me I should too! I think this is the reason why I switched to a different comment "thingy" on my blog. Far too many times I wanted to reply but couldn't!
ReplyDeleteFound you though Weekly Roundup
ReplyDeleteI'll admit I was one of those that was set to no-reply (hand head in shame). I've fixed it now (I hope!) Thanks for explaining:)
ReplyDeleteI can't handle the no-reply when I'm trying to comment back. Makes me cranky! I write back, hit send, and then realize it's going to nobody. Grrr...
ReplyDeleteThis is going to sound lame, but will anyone in the world be able to see my email address if I do this? I did it, but I'm just curious. You're the PerSec expert :)
ReplyDeleteTesting 1, 2, 3... :)
ReplyDeleteSince I'm a new blogger...I had no idea what you were talking about your comment! But I now have my 'reply-to' email set! Woo hoo! Glad you have this post! :)
ReplyDeleteOkay so I did this and I am still not getting the comments in my email :(

ReplyDeletethank you! i always felt like a jerk for not knowing ho to reply to anyone's comments. i think i have it set up correctly... now someone just needs to comment so i can try it out!
ReplyDeleteps. i'm a new follower :)
I was wondering if you'd mind me copying and pasting (and giving you full credit, of course) this post into my blog. I could rewrite it and make it my own, but you already have it written out perfectly. Let me know. If you don't want me to, I completely understand! I'm just tired of getting "no-reply" when I try replying to people! gracias :)
