Unproductive

This has, hands down, been my most unproductive field week since we got here. I don't know why. Maybe because I'm finally buckling under the stress of not having orders (which, admittedly, is really stupid, because even once we have orders, there are still several months of training before we move, so whether we got them today, last week or in two months, practically it would make no difference). Mostly I think it's because they let them come home for two weeks and let me get used to him again. And then sent him away.

So I haven't slept much all week. Consequently haven't had hardly any energy to exercise until about 9:00 at night, which is at least something, I guess, but not ideal. I need to go to the grocery store today because I am literally down to Bisquick and butter. And Coke. There's always Coke. :)

The last few days I had intended to work on a project, and the first day I did great. Got what I needed to get done that day, done. Yesterday....notsomuch. In fact, I opened the laptop and, instead of doing what I needed to, turned on Wrath of Khan.

Which, if you haven't seen, you must.

Yes, I'm a Trekkie. One of my deep dark secrets that I'm not really supposed to talk about in public. I'm also a pseudo-gamer. But that's another post.

Anyway, yeah, I'm a Trekkie. When the newest Star Trek movie came out, SoldierMan got to see it with friends before I did, through a turn of events. He doesn't even really like Star Trek! The two of us went to see it a couple of days later.

I don't think he really understood the depth of my Trekkie-ness until I was smacking his arm during the movie - "That's Commander Pike! It's the Kobiyashi Maru test! The green girl! They brought back the green girl!" And he was like, "How do you know this? I thought you hadn't seen this yet." :)

Ah, memories.

But Khan is the best of the movies. I can let the opening and closing credits play over and over again just to listen to the music. One of the Top 5 movie scores ever! And it just doesn't get any better than Ricardo Montalban. The man is amazing.

Anyway...I have no idea where I was going with that. :)

BTW, I've noticed a few new followers and commenters around here. Yay! Please make sure you have your reply-to address set. (See the link at the top). You will make dozens of fellow BBs deliriously happy!

  5. Oooooo - nooooo. here I thought we had so much in common and I go and find out you are a closet Trekkie. I may need to re-think our bloggy relationship........... O.k., enough thinking - everyone has their weaknesses so I'll keep following you rain or shine, or until you turn liberal - then I would just HAVE to cut you loose. (so I guess I'm devoted for the long term!?)

  6. Oooh, Joe is a HUGE Trekkie. And since being married, I've endured Voyager, DS 9 and some Next. Gen. I went with him to see the new Star Trek movie, even though I didn't want to...and ended up *loving* it. A couple weeks ago, Neelix was on an episode of Bones and I recognized him IMMEDIATELY. I guess I've been turned to the dark side, lol!

  7. I love that you're a trekkie and I too am a somewhat closeted quasi-gamer. (I once made the mistake of telling the hubs that I used to play Everquest and my avatar was a dark elf enchantress...yeah, I'll NEVER live that one down)

  8. I am a huge sci-fi fan but I could never get into Star Trek. Weird, huh! But I loved the new movie!! So, maybe I need to give the older versions another chance.
