Oh man....

Okay, my little rant the other day about how much I hate exercise notwithstanding, I have been making a more concerted effort this week to do...stuff....

So the other day, I decided to go out and walk. I enjoy walking. I hate running, with a passion. But I do enjoy walking. So I went walking on the main road outside our complex. It was hot, and long.

That road may look familiar to some of you. And that was taken on my phone...it does not accurately convey the hills, but as you can see, you can't even see where I started from there. It probably doesn't look like much to you marathoners, but it pushed my limits.

And I have been SO sore ever since. It's been a long time since I've walked like that. Probably since Disney, since there aren't many distance walking opportunities in the 'burbs. Which is just how I like it. But anyway.

Today's mission:

the dreaded Yoga X.

I hate yoga. With a passion. Mostly, I hate being upside down, both from a phobia standpoint and also from a poor circulation standpoint. Hanging my head upside down (like in yoga) gives me a crazy headache.
But I'm so sore, I think I really need to do it. So I'm going to. See? I even have the mat out already. Yes, that's NCIS on the TV, but Yoga X will be on there soon. After I eat lunch. Yeah.

Baby steps.


  1. I am not a runner either! I have tried, but I love to walk! I have never tried yoga! I do not think that I am limber enough! Hope you are having a great week!

  3. I don't run either, I just don't get it. I used to walk and enjoy it. I really kept my weight in check that way. The last few years it's been more difficult. I have an issue with my foot that I'm having trouble getting resolved.
    As I get older, I like yoga more. I ache more and the stretching really seems to help.

  4. Good for you!!! I have been FORCING myself to run while Ben has been gone, and I HATE running, and still somewhat do, but the more I make myself do it, the more I crave doing it.

  5. Keep up the good work!!! I just got back from a 4 mile walk at a park near us, I can tell you some good places if you are interested...and I really want to go to Spinning soon!!

  6. I like to run but very short distances! Really trying to get into yoga. Good luck, you inspired me to workout today! Always a struggle.

  7. I always hate running until I find that I can run 3-4 miles without much effort. I just have to keep pushing through to that point.

    Have you tried any of the 30 Day Shred with Jillian Michaels? She kicks your butt! I also have her "No More Trouble Zones" video and really enjoyed that one too. That way, no yoga. :)

  9. I hate running.

    I've tried yoga before, but I didn't like it. It was too serious, and everything moved too slow. That's just me though. That was class at the gym though. I don't know what Yoga X is.

    I'm doing the 30 Day Shred and lost 4 inches in the first week, not sure about the second week. Plus, I lost 6.2 lbs in 2 weeks. It's really good!

  10. you already know that i too hate running. but i do like yoga! hooray for baby steps... i'm gonna eat some bread pudding while you hang upside down;o)

  11. Haha I love this post. Bady steps is the way to go! Do you have trouble swallowing the fact that your husband does more PT in a day than us girls are capable of in a week? I think that's a huge source of motivation for me.

  12. Good for you! I love the gym, but since I have a young baby I do the Firm at home regularly. I love it! I also used it after having my first child. It is a little time for me and I don't even have to step in the gym.

  13. I hate running with a passion as well... haha. I didn't like yoga, but I do now. There are some cardio yoga routines now that rock!

  15. I have a major love/hate with Yoga X! Yay for being sore though. Its a hurting really good feeling :)

  16. The only running I enjoy is sprints... running long distances makes me feel like I'm a hamster on a wheel :)

    My husband has been doing Crossfit for about 5 years now and I've joined him for almost a year. We have an awesome garage gym where we embrace the suck. And most times it's fantastically horrid. I've never felt so good and so bad in my whole life! Even as much as I die every time I work out, I absolutely love it. And I think that's the key... to love what you do as an exercise. I know, you're rolling your eyes - ha!

    My one friend does hula-hooping as her exercise. She's lost over 100 pounds! She loves it. Who knew, right! I love Crossfit. My friend loves to run... I hope that you find something you can love too :)

    PS, you live in my old complex! You should try the hills at the park nearby. They're doozies!
