Disney Blog Carnival: Parks

Hey everyone!

You know you always spend your first day at Disney just exploring the parks. Therefore today, that's what we'll do. Put up some of our favorite "park" pictures.

As many of you know, we went to WDW for our honeymoon. It was SoldierMan's first time. So, the place holds its own special magic for us.

This is at our hotel room balcony, at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge. (The original building, not the new one.) We were had a "savannah view" room rather than a pool view, which was AMAZING. Not only was it super quiet and peaceful, but we also got to see animals back there all the time, like giraffes, water buffalo, gazelles and zebras.

We spent our first day at Animal Kingdom, because it was closest to the hotel. I had never been to that park before. It's pretty cool. Even though there are animals everywhere - everywhere! - it doesn't smell like a zoo. Duh! It's Disney!

But then that night we went to Magic Kingdom to watch the fireworks. It was amazing and magical. And, of course, we had to buy bride and groom ears on Main Street!
We rocked the ears and buttons the rest of the trip!

These next set of pictures are from our first anniversary trip to Disney. They aren't as good, for some reason. This is when I REALLY started wanting a new camera.

Main Street, U.S.A.
Wow, I gained a lot of weight that first year!

In case you're wondering why my hair is in dreads, we had gone on a weekend cruise before coming to Disney. Not a Disney cruise. Once we left the cruise she and got to our hotel (AKL again) a porter asked to help with our bags. We said 'no,' forgetting we weren't on the ship and obliged to tip everyone who made eye contact with you, regardless of how poorly they did their job. He simply smiled and said, "Welcome home." And that's definitely how it felt.

Anniversary Trip 2:

Yes, this camera is MUCH better! :)

Waiting for the light parade to start

I LOVE the windows on Main Street! This one says, "What we build together will last forever."

Fife and Drums and the American Pavillion
Okay, you may not believe me, but these shirts are ALWAYS a huge hit at Disney! Of course, it was 2009, but we had people coming up to us all day commenting on them (positively. Only one person was like, "Well, at least you're active, even if it's on the wrong side." :)) We were eating lunch one day and a woman from Massachusetts came up to us and just started talking to us in the middle of all the tables. Then after she left another table leaned over and said, "We weren't going to say anything, but since she did - we really like your shirts." The most memorable one, though, was when we were upstairs headed to Garden Grill (in Epcot) and an older fellow came up behind us and put his hands on our shoulders and said, "Thanks for getting out there and working. You are the hope of our country. Our future rests with you young people." We were so stunned, we really didn't know what to say, and he turned and walked away before we could really respond. As he was leaving, I noticed he had on a "Navy Veteran" hat and lanyard. Seriously, we should have been thanking him. Very humbling.

I love the Muppets!

My favorite castle pic:
Well, that's it! Link up below to share your favorite park pics over the years!!

Tomorrow: Rides!

p.s. If you're seeing this on Sunday (and you don't live outside the contiguous United States)...I'm not really sure how that happened. I scheduled this to post Monday morning...oh well....

  1. I LOVE all your pictures. My friend and I planned a WDW trip to get in on the special deal last summer. But then my husband's R&R got pushed back and we had to cancel. I want to go so bad. We did get to spend a day at Disneyland though. Not sure when we will make it to WDW but I really can't wait to visit someday.

  2. Sure seems like you guys had a lot of fun. My park pictures are on my old laptop, and I cant find the cord, would have loved to link up! I love Disney, its practically an hour from where i live!!!

  3. This is a great idea for a blog hop! We have been wanting to go to DW forever. I have never been.

  4. Oh you guys are soooo freakin cute!! We have to go to Disney together sometime! Haha...I love your all's matching t-shirts. I'm not sure I'll ever be able to convince G.I. Joe to do that.

  5. Looks like so much fun!! I have never been...maybe someday, I so want to go now that I have seen your pics though. Looks a whole lot more fun than just rides and Mickey =)

  6. I'm so so so jealous! All things Disney are my favorite! I'm glad you're having fun and enjoying yourselves, you deserve it!

  7. I love this! I am going to join in as much as possible. :)
I desperately need to go back. I have been feeling Disney withdrawals lately. It's been 2 years since we first started working there. :( I miss it so much.

  8. I want to give you an award =)
You can view the post here:

  9. Love all the pics!-especially the Geosphere alone (great edit!) and the one of David by himself (very handsome).

I've found the only downside to having a great new camera...you look at all your old pics with just a bit of frustration, lol.

I have to say that I'm a little jealous, none of our pics in front of the Geosphere ever turn out and it's my favorite park so poo but yours all look fantastic!

  10. These are great! Really make me want to go back to Disney - it's been almost 20 years... yikes!

  11. I found your blog through Expat Girl's blog.

Love your Disney pictures. My husband and I got married in December and we also went on our honeymoon to Disney...it was so much fun!

  12. I always love your posts about Disney, it always gives me Disney fever!

Love the pictures too. The pic of Spaceship Earth with the palm tree is AWESOME

  13. I haven't been to Disney in over 10 years and your photos make me want to go back NOW! I love all of them!!

  14. I gave you an award over at my blog :)

  15. You two are just freakin ADORABLE!

K has NEVER been to Disney either, and I want to take him REALLY bad.
