The One About the Dress

Last night was...awful. I don't know what it is about this week but I had been carrying all the stress of it in my shoulders and it finally landed as a migraine so bad I had to go to bed around 8:00. Right before, I decided to call the massage therapy place near my house to get an appointment to work some of my tension out. So this morning, I went . It was AMAZING! I haven't had a real massage like that...maybe ever. I felt so much better afterwards.

Then this afternoon I went shopping with Sister to find a dress for the ball. I know it didn't, but it seemed like it took forever. I hate shopping. Really. And formal shopping is so difficult. All the formal places we went had basically three kinds of dresses - hoochie dresses, bridal gowns, and mother-of-the-bride dresses. Or dresses that came close to what I wanted but were about 3x more than my budget.

So we went to Sister's favorite store which had a "prom" section, and came away with, I think, a winner.

I know, it's not traditional, but it's more my style. Go ahead and lecture me, but I wanted a short dress rather than floor-length. The picture gives an idea but doesn't do it justice. In person, it's shiny and classy and just a little sassy. Very Audrey Hepburn. I know the girl in the picture has bangled earings, but I'm thinking pearls are more in order. Anyway, with my hair and the season, I think it's perfect. I've never had a dress cut like that fit me so well.

Now, to find shoes. I may have to do that online. It's really hard to find pretty kitten-heeled shoes, or, it always has been for me. And I pretty much always get kitten-heeled shoes. I've never seen the point of wearing shoes that hurt, even for a nice event. And anything with any height at all hurt my feet. But I don't want to wear flats, either, because you need at least some heel to make your legs look good. I may have to wear heels with that dress. We'll see.

Anyway, that's the winner. However, after being worked over for an hour this morning, I probably should have waited and put the dress shopping off for another day. I'm absolutely exhausted now!

or something from Payless. Some of my most comfortable heels are from Payless!

  8. That's so funny that you said you were gonna wear pearls because I noticed the earrings she was wearing when I looked @ the pic and thought "some big vintage looking pearls would look SO much better with that dress!"
Also, if you're taking recommendations, I'm thinking black peep toe two inch heels would look fantastic :)

  10. Oooh! That is a gorgeous dress!! Maybe not for the red carpet, but I think it's very pretty and suitable for a formal event. I'm a little jealous that you have a formal event to go to already!!! Good luck finding shoes! If you need help...I *heart* shoe shopping! =D I'm sure my hubby would appreciate me shopping for someone else instead of myself for a change. Lol!
