Friday Randomness

Oh my gosh, it's finally the weekend! Usually that's not such a big deal for me (since it's not like I have SoldierMan home to enjoy it with) but this weekend I actually have something to look forward to - Girls Night tomorrow night!! Whoo-hoo! I'm ready! I'll be sure and take pictures, too.

Speaking of pictures, I know a lot of you like to take pictures, some of you are full-blown mamarazzi's, and so I just have to share this with those of you who care. The beginning of the video is really informational, so to skip straight to the make-your-jaw-drop-and-take-your-breath-away awesomeness, skip to 2:30ish to begin.

All I can say is....holy freakin' crap. x 10,000.

Let's see, let's see....I'm really trying not to talk about LOST right now. Those of you who watched this week, start pondering and be prepared for mucho discussions on Tuesday!

Today should be a fun day. Getting my hair done, then going out to lunch with my mom (and probably my brother, since she'll have to pick him up from school). Then SoldierMan gets in tomorrow night from field training. I'm not sure whether or not to expect an evening full of talk, though. He's been pretty wiped out the couple of times I talked to him (he could hardly stay awake at 2100. That's bad, for him :))

At this point, I've self-diagnosed myself with a shoulder sprain. I've already been lectured about sleeping with my arm under my head. Sorry, but I'm not comfortable any other way, except on my back with a pillow, and I know that's bad for my posture!

I haven't been to the doctor. Since going on Tricare, I try to avoid the doctor unless I'm really, really, really sick - and then wait and call on Saturday morning so I can be referred out. I just hate dealing with...bureaucracy. I have to spend 20 minutes on the phone trying to get an appointment that will probably not be until the next day anyway (from what I've heard of our clinic from "regular attenders." The turnaround rate is pretty low.) And anyway, what would a doctor tell you to do for a sprain? Ice it, ibuprofen it, rest it. I'm doing all that, as best I can. So let's save the system some money and me some time and cut out the middle man. That's my philosophy.

What are your plans for the weekend?

  1. I am so nervous about the whole TriCare insurance thing. Is it really hard to get into a Dr. when your sick with Tricare?

  2. Sounds like a pretty great weekend you have lined up - I hope you enjoy it!

I am doing housework (oh, dear) and some work-work, but punctuated by seeing my best friend who just got home from Iraq! Yeah!

  3. I've never had a problem with TriCare. I found a doctor pretty easily (they have a website you can go to to find doctors that accept tricare), and have never had to deal with TriCare at all. They've always paid what they were supposed to...albeit a little late. The only thing I ever had an issue with was getting a prescription because their server was down, which happens occasionally. I know going to the dr for a sprain feels retarded, but if you feel like you need to go don't worry about TriCare. I even went to a walk-in in December and they paid 100%. I never saw a bill.

  6. Yay for a girls night! That sounds like it's going to be fun for sure. If you don't start feeling better soon I'd definitely make the appointment because why be in pain if you can go and get it taken care of. Feel better!

  7. Oh that video is cool!!!

I need to catch up on Lost so I can join your talks about it :)

I haven't had any huge issues with Tricare. The biggest thing was not being able to get my baby in for a well baby during the first year until weeks later. But I think our clinic was very messed up about that kind of thing.

  8. Have a fun girls night! Wow, I need one of those.

So you haven't had good experiences with Tricare? I've had really good experiences and really bad. But I've also had really good experiences and really bad experiences with tons of civilian doctors so I don't think I can attribute negativity solely to Tricare. Oddly, my best experiences with Tricare docs was in Japan!

Hope your shoulder feels better. Have a great weekend!

  11. I have good and bad experiences with TriCare. Landon went to the ER back in Nov when we were home for Thanksgiving. They still haven't paid. We called the hospital and they told us not to worry about it. Thank heaves. THey said that TriCare asked for his medical records. TriCare told us they would pay for it and for us not to worry. It is March and still nothing has been paid!! SIGH!! Oh well, both parties tell us not to worry. But we have had a bad experience before. Tyler had tubes and something got messed up with either the billing dept for the doctor's office or TriCare. Six months after her surgery, I get a letter from the dr saying they are going to send our bill to a collection agency. I FREAKED out. I called the doctors office and Tricare. It was finally settled. Of course David was deployed during all this!! I threatened to get David's commander involved.
