The BIG News!!!

So today is the big day! And since this is what affects you guys most directly, I'll start by announcing the winner of the Chick-Fil-A giveaway!

Thanks to everyone who entered. I loved your answers and your cow pictures! Random.org chose the winner for me.

Y'all drop by and give her some congrats! :)

Now, for the really, really big news. My big news.

Georgia, here we come!
*That's Ft. Benning, to clarify!*

We're so excited. This is exactly what he wanted. I'm not really sure how this works, so I can't answer probably any of your questions. But, SoldierMan is going to commision as an Infantry Officer, doing MI. I really don't understand how that works. In a few years he'll go "full Infantry." Please don't ask me what that means or how it works. I really have no idea. But I am super-excited! When I go out to see him for Easter, we'll get to find a place to live and start nailing things down.

I just have to take a moment right now and say a huge Thank You to all my BBs. Y'all have been so helpful and supportive throughout this whole process, even when half the time I don't know what I'm talking about! I think this week we were all reminded just how special a community the milspouse community is, even online, and how close we all are. So many of you I feel like I know and love, even if we haven't met in "real life," although as we know, it gets pretty real on here, too.

And, because I know we could all use some good news this week -

Jen's soldier is HOME! Swing by and share the joy :)

And....I found out this morning, my "little" SIL is engaged!! :) (Does any milspouse know, will we have July 2nd "off"? That's when she's getting married and I *know* SoldierMan would want to be there.)

She's the one on the left. That pretty much sums her up. ;)

It's just been a day of great news for me :) I'm so happy.

  2. Hi there! I came across your blog from....no idea where (I'm upping my mil-spouse blogs), but I've seen you everywhere. I don't know where you're going in GA, but I recently moved here and love it so far :)

  3. Yea! Congratulations! I'm sure you'll love it.

*As for having off 7/2... in the AF, it's up to teh base commander. Frequently they give the Friday before a holiday off as a family day, where non-mission essential personnel are released form duty for the day. So really, you probably won't know until closer to the day.

  6. Woo hoo Infantry! I'm so happy for you both!
My husband LOVES being Infantry, he wouldn't have it any other way. YAY!
We'll be down at Benning (hopefully the end of summer) so we just may run into each other. :)

  7. Are you going with him? You guys should enjoy Benning. We lived there for a while and the post is pretty darn nice! Although you can get lost at times!!

Columbus (the city right there) is nice as long as you don't get off on the 1st four exits going FROM Benning to Columbus.

Downtown is so pretty. If you get a chance, you should stop by The Cannon, a restaurant/pub/micro-brewery. Their food is to die for, and the fried pickles there (I know, it sounds weird, but apparently it is a southern thing) are REALLY good! If you are ok with beer, they have some fantastic brews made only by them. (I'm not really much of a beer person, but even I was impressed when I took sips from my hubby's.)

Oh, and if you two want a little get-away, the cabins that the MWR rent out are super cute and just a few minutes away from the post. We stayed there when he got back from Iraq.

Sorry for the long comment, but I wanted to pass on the good stuff! Feel free to ask me anything!

  8. Congrats, you will LOVE Georgia. We have tried to get stationed there. My husband has family who lives close to the base and even more important a deer camp less than an hour from the AFB. HA!! I can't wait to follow your journey to GA!! Happy Friday!!

  15. Hey, sorry, I forgot to change the url! That's awesome! Welcome to the South ;) I hear good things about that base.

Agree with Jaime about the 2nd... PROBABLY, but no guarentee. It also depends on his job... and from the sound of it, he doesn't have a job that's necessary to the daily operations of the base, right? That will help your odds.

By the way, totally forgot about your URL change and you weren't coming up in my reader. Glad you asked the Mrs. Where here comments were!
