Balance

"What I felt like saying was, 'I've produced my third child and my sixth book since I last saw you. Aren't either of these things more important, more interesting, than my size?' But no - my waist looked smaller! Forget the kid and the book; finally, something to celebrate! Maybe this seems funny or trivial, but it's really not." ~ JK Rowling

That has always been one of my favorite quotes (taken from the new section on the right). For years I have tried to focus on accomplishments rather than appearance. I believe women especially should focus on the internal at least as much as we focus on external things.

The struggle, of course, is to still be healthy and take care of yourself rather than just let yourself go.

That's where I am. I've gotten better about exercise and all that since we got married (being married to a gym rat helps!) but I wasn't very careful about my diet. This experience has shown me just how "not careful" I had been.

So, that's the point of this experiment for me. Sure, I'd like to lose the weight, but the long-term is what I'm trying to focus on.

Yesterday, the headaches were less as the day went on. I think my body is adjusting. We'll see how the next two weeks go.

It's so true! Our spiritual lives are far too important to ignore. And diet and exercise support that, helping our bodies to be healthy and feel better, and freeing our minds to focus on what's really important.
