This is what's known as a 'whirlwind'

This weekend was crazy busy.

SoldierMan had the day off on Friday so he could get some stuff done he needed to and just take some personal time.

Well, he got most of the important stuff done he needed to in the morning, so after lunch we had some R&R time and went to the gun range.

I haven't been shooting in SOOOO long, but I did alright once we moved the targets close enough :) I didn't take a picture of mine because he shot at it at some point and screwed up my holes. His were dead-center, of course!

Yes, that's my baby ;)

We went so SoldierMan could use his newest acquisition, seen here:

Shooting the .22. I do much better with a scope.

After that we went to my parents' house to swim and hang out. We got the whole family to play Rock Band after dinner. Very fun.

You can't tell from this angle, but everyone is singing. That's how we play. We all divy up the instruments, but in the end everybody sings. Then we watched Gran Torino. I have to say, it wasn't exactly what I expected. Not what you would call a feel-good classic, by any means. But still a very well-done movie.

After that, I had to come home and make cupcakes for the cookout the next day. Up till 1 baking. Up at 8 frosting.

Then we went to Stillwater to one of SoldierMan's co-worker's lakehouse. It was really fun

It was really beautiful out there, even after an hour drive. We got there around 11ish, and everybody else showed up about 11:50. :)

Pat and Jerry were wonderful hosts and taught SoldierMan how to drive their jetski. Now, of course, he wants one.

Me with Beverly, SoldierMan's boss's wife

Then we had to leave the lake around 1:30 to race home, clean up, change and go to the Oklahoma Federation of Young Republicans State Convention. I have to say, of all the political events I've been to, this was by far the most amicable.

In honor of our own Cleveland County YRs being elected to various state-wide positons, and in honor of the visiting National officials, we went to Abuelos for dinner afterwards.

It was a good weekend, all said and done. But man, I'm wiped out. Tonight is my brother's 15th birthday. My parents gave him a cell phone for his birthday (I had to wait till I was 19, btw. Just sayin') and limited him to 10 texts a day - incoming and outgoing. We all laughed hysterically when they said that. I have a feeling that won't last long.

  2. ooh a pink gun! I want one but my husband got me a shotgun instead. Something about the sound it makes when I slide it back will hopefully scare the intruder out or something. But still, I want a cute pink little number like yours. But alas, we live in a state where you have to sell your first born to even get the permit paperwork.

  3. We don't have to have a permit to own a gun, only to carry it. Right now the wait list for CC permits is about three months deep. So I need to start on that soon! That's why I got the pink one. A revolver cause it's easier to load, and hammerless so it can't snag, say, in a purse.
